CJ Randall, entered a team of
three MG Midget ‘M’ Types
for the 1930 Double-Twelve Race at Brooklands.
The scene shows the Randall / Montgomery car, No. 76, coming
off the Members Banking.
The cars were prepared by the MG works at Abingdon. Besides being specially
tuned and having new valve timing, they were fitted with regulation
Brooklands exhaust systems, folding windscreens, bonnet straps and cutaway
doors. The headlamp brackets were reversed to reduce the frontal area.
They won the team prize and their success in the race was
one of the ‘M’ Types
greatest triumphs and gave a tremendous boost to the
car's popularity.
